Happiness Forgets, Hoxton

I used to spend a lot of time in Hoxton and Shoreditch and grew weary of its tendency to the pretentious so I admit to some reticence about this venue.  But, arriving early evening to ensure a cosy, appropriately clandestine corner, I knew immediately this bar had promise.

It didn’t disappoint. The friendly, attentive staff made sure the drinks flowed steadily and the combination of subdued lighting and hindrance-free seating made for the perfect environment in which to behave outrageously.

Unlike so many places in hispterville, this bijou basement bar actually delivers on being effortlessly cool.
